A salt-water carwash may not be too good for your car, but it's great fun. Here's how one crosses the Churchill barriers during a moderate storm: This was filmed in November last year but had to wait until BT provided fast internet to St Margaret's Hope in order to be able to upload it. Filmed on iPhone by son William in the passenger seat while I drove. If the storms get too bad, the Coast Guard close the barriers to traffic for a few hours until the tide goes down. However, the barriers don't have to be closed very often and it's all part of the fun of living here. Yet one more reason to think of a winter stay in the Creel! (Particularly if you're in a hire car 😜) But car washes weren't allowed during this January storm.
