I always thought that the photos in travel travel brochures were massively retouched. Now that I have photos of my own which I took by simply walking ten steps from the front door of the Creel, I feel obliged to accept that some of them must be true – because these are!
and they look just like pics from a travel brochure.
I took the pic above and those that follow as 'night' was falling on the longest day. The time was – believe it or not – 10:15pm.
I took the next couple of pics over the following half hour.
Long, lovely summer days are here again. Orkney is sparkling and the Creel is bustling with loads of wonderful guests, who keep us busy – but not so busy we weren't able able to go for a walk last Sunday. We went to Sandwick beach, just two or 3 miles from the Creel and just over the hill from Herston, where my grandfather was born. The day sparkled. Look!!!
I can't get over the fact that there is so much beauty just minutes away from the Creel.
The beach itself
I like to take photos and am fond of clichés - so I'll say I find them to be worth a thousand words.
