| In May 2006 we celebrated 21 years at the Creel and were delighted when, in the same month, Alan was awarded Scottish Restaurant Chef of The Year by the Scottish Chefs Association - a lovely way to commemorate such a special anniversary. |
|
| Over the years we have had many favourable comments from satisfied diners, from those left in our guestbook to the more 'formal' accolades. The restaurant has two rosettes from the AA and is listed as a four star Restaurant with Rooms by the Scottish Tourist Board |

| 'If
ever a restaurant could be said to stick to what's good and local, this
is it.' Rick Stein's Seafood Lovers Guide |

| 'Enjoyed
it all from the watercolours on the walls, the memorable food, the smokeless
atmosphere, the delicious salmon and eggs and the rough cut marmalade.
Thank you.' Donald Smith, Edinburgh - obviously written prior to the smoking ban! |

| 'The Creel Restaurant is one of the finest dining experiences to be had in this part of the world offering skilled cooking without being pretentious. Freshly prepared dishes reflect a dedication to producing local produce with flair. Seafood is predominant on the menu and the home-made desserts are simply superb. Unmissable! 'Alan
Craigie and his wife Joyce run the Creel Restaurant & Rooms, St Margaret's
Hope, Orkney, to the highest of standards and demonstrate the importance
of team work through their commitment to the quality experience they offer.
The
Creel has become a place of pilgrimage for gourmets and justifiably so,
where Alan presents short, daily changing menus which vary according to
the availability of local Orcadian specialities.' Macallan Taste of Scotland awards - Alan Craigie, Macallan Personality of the Year 1997. |
